There are millions of orphans around the world. Due to lack of opportunities many lead a life of poverty, criminality or become vulnerable to exploitation. Supporting orphans is a meritorious act in Islam. It is mentioned in the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW). The rewards of taking guardianship of an orphan reaps many blessings. Furthermore, in many countries widows live a life of struggle, abuse and degradation. It is a duty upon Muslims to support those in need generally, but to support a Orphans and Widows is even more of a duty, thus it is emphasised in the Sunnah.
